When I think of a Bugatti Veyron several adjectives come to mind. Controversial, fast, overweight, engineering masterpiece, luxurious, and finally beautiful. I have been lucky enough to see one in person and the shape of this car is simply stunning. When you see a Veyron it reminds you of a bullet. The W16 may not be the best sounding engine in the world but it is certainly one of if not the most interesting. I frankly love the Bugatti Veyron and given the oppertunity it would be one of the first cars I wouuld add to my collection. It is an landmark automobile with all the prestige and desirability to match.

So Oppo tell me why you dislike or like the Veyron?

I like it because, what’s not to like?

I hate it because it’s mostly owned by cunts.

I respect the engineering, but I have many reasons why I dislike/hate it:

1. It’s the go-to “LOOK AT ME I’M A BILLIONAIRE” car.

2. It’s utterly useless just about everywhere.

3. The people who buy this car

4. The places you can use it, it’ll probably never see

5. Really, the people who buy cars like this

6. Because I’m envious of people who can afford cars like this

7. The people who can afford it

8. This, Because Lambo

I dont hate it but, I just don’t get the same feeling when I see it like I would if I saw Mclaren F1 or a Ferrari F40.

It isn’t supposed to give you the same feelings. I think it is more of a grand touring super car than all out driving nirvana.

I love the Veyron; I admire it for its technological abilities and the simplicity of its beauty. And for those who are against it, saying it’s too heavy or its unless on the track: let’s not forget, this car’s main objective was to go 250mph + any time, all the time, (a task everyone outside of the company thought would be impossible), and the engineers at VW succeed in doing just that. If they set out to create a car with the track in mind, I would not doubt in the slightest that the engineers would create the fastest car around track.

I’m very excited to see the next interation of the Veyron (The Chiron), and what it brings to the hypercar table.

Speaking of Veyrons, here’s a really nice Vitesse I saw a few weeks ago:

1. Its hideous

2. Its WAY too expensive

3. It makes EVERY SINGLE middle school punk think they’re a car guy. (Ex. “The Bugatti Veyron is one of the fastest cars in the world, yo”).

4. Its every single rich prick’s go-to ride to waste money.

5. Nearly every single one is wasted going 15 MPH around Monaco.

I don’t like the approach they took. From what I understand, they said “we want a car to look like this, have this much horsepower, and go this fast. Engineers, make it happen”. They never asked engineering if it was possible. IIRC, the car was repeatedly delayed and head engineers left.

McLaren made the best car they could, put the best engine they could find in it, and then saw what it could do. They let engineering and technology dictate the car. And if you let some of the best engineers build a car they want, not what the boardroom wants, you make a car that stood head and shoulders above everything else for decades.

I dislike it because complexity. Tire life. Wheel life. The fact that the driver has to put a key in a separate hole to unlock batshit mode and then, if you accidentally touch the brakes anytime during batshit mode, you have to stop and put it in batshit mode once again.

The first one is objective I’ll give it to you though.

It is actually good value for money considering it cost more to make than what you bought it for.

It just looks like a Beetle that’s been squashed and had a horseshoe stamped in the front.

Look at what else you can buy though. You could buy a 918 Spyder that literally does EVERYTHING except top speed better than a Veyron, and way cheaper.

Fair point, I guess.

I am taking this a step beyond “Don’t hate the car, hate the owner.” Seriously, why does everyone on here seem to think that any billionaire who doesn’t buy exactly what we would buy with the money is automatically a shallow, show-off asshole? My God folks, a rich person doesn’t automatically become a dick the second they don’t buy some obscure classic to take to the track. I hate to be “that guy”, but I’m reading shit like this repeatedly on here. There are fantastic rich people and scummy rich people, just like with any other demographic, and the fact that they drive a Veryon has the square route of Jack shit to do with what kind of human being they are.

I respect the engineering and it’s accomplishments. It’s appearance is nothing I’ll ever admire, but it’s far from the ugliest thing around. Just boring. What I hate is how hard VW whored it out. The Veyron should’ve been sent to the pasture when the SS reclaimed it’s record, and leave the car world with dignity. Instead we got an absurd amount of Mortal Kombat pallet swaps sold off as “special editions”. It was worse than any Mustang out there.

Kinja'd!!!0

The Veyron has become the go-to machine of rich idiots. that’s why I don’t like it. same reason I’d never buy a Civic Si, or a WRX. owners ruin them for me.

What I don’t like about the car itself is what it offers for the money. we’re talking about a car that is

A) slower than a P1, La Ferarri, 918

B) more expensive* than a P1, La Ferarri, 918

C) Less exclusive than a P1, La Ferarri, 918

It also has some very stupid ownership requirements. For example: when I want to get a new tire for my car, I go to Discount tire, pay a man $170, and drink a complementary glass of cold water while I wait for my new Michelin Pilot A/S3 to be mounted. then I can use it, some 45 minutes after I arrived at Discount tire, to go do stuff

With the Veyron, I have to send my car to france so some baguette chewing, wine drinking, road blocking peasant can say “hon hon hon!” to, before smoking in it for his smoke break, and then mounting a tire that costs five thousand fucking dollars on to the car. finally, i’ll get my car back, 5 weeks later, so I can drive it for another 2 months, before it gets cold out, and I put it in my garage, next to my much cooler P1, 918 and La Ferarri.

it is a masterpiece, and an engineering tour de force. it’s what happens when an engineer is given a pen, and told “draw the best thing you can, that we could possibly make”

Like it’s predecessor as well, it’s a Bugatti: comfy, effortless and faster than pretty much any moving object this side of a Learjet.

And that's where it's problem lies. in the fact it's a supercar, that doesn't have the charm of "the supercar"

Exactly. I don’t know if it’s envy or what, but so many people love to judge the wealthy without knowing much about them - and they are the ones that typically preach tolerance and acceptance.

When I read about rich people it makes me want to work harder and try to become more successful. I'm happy for them. But as another commenter said, humans struggle with being happy for someone who, externally, seems to have it all.

I think the Veyron will stand head and shoulders above everything else for decades. Nothing has sniffed its power or top speed. It’s the ultimate GT car compared to the ultimate super car like the F1. It just had different goals. Going above and beyond what is technically possible is arguably more impressive than just maxing out the current envelope.

It definitely did have different goals, and is probably without peer as a GT. But there’s probably an argument to be made about to speed, if koningsegg (sp) could ever hit theirs on a track.

I am not sure I agree with the no charm claim.

What other car this side of a hybrid hypercar will propel you further or faster? It stops people dead in their tracks because they know you are in a special and high class car. It is a bespoke piece of engineering. And finally it is totally impractical. Sounds like it has the supercar charm to me.

Kinja'd!!! RockThrillz89 > JR1

That second key is actually really smart. Activating that key changes a lot of the dynamics of the car, as well as runs a bunch of preflight checks. A lot of those dynamics don’t translate well to regular driving (i.e. super low ride height, lower drag settings, etc.). It just helps keep people from jumping on the interstate and going 200mph+, or people going way too fast in a car that isn’t preped for it.

Also, if I remember correctly, if you turn the steering wheel beyond a certain degree, it will disengage batshit mode also. Batshit mode is drag strip mode, not race-car mode.
